 In 2021, GNARBOX unveiled its Edge Compute Platform, taking its rugged, portable processing power beyond creative workflows and into enterprise applications like drone inspections, industrial sensors, and autonomous vehicle data management. The launch positioned GNARBOX as not just a tool for creators, but a mission-critical field solution for data-heavy industries.

When GNARBOX hit the market, it didn’t just enter the portable storage game — it redefined it. Designed for professional photographers, videographers, drone pilots, and later, industrial field teams, GNARBOX’s line of devices solved the biggest pain point in the industry: reliable, laptop-free backup and file management anywhere, under any conditions.

From 2019 to 2023, I led all earned media efforts for GNARBOX — spanning initial product launch, traditional press, digital features, product reviews, and event PR. This included a deliberate focus on niche media verticals that aligned with the brand’s identity and customer base. I secured features in outdoor lifestyle publications to reach adventure photographers, travel documentarians, and expedition teams who operate in extreme environments, as well as consumer tech outlets where early adopters and gear reviewers could validate the device’s performance for broader audiences.

The goal was two-fold:

  1. Launch GNARBOX to a professional creative market hungry for mobile workflow solutions— reaching not only established creative industry press but also specialty outlets in adventure travel, outdoor gear, and expedition storytelling.

  2. Position the brand for expansion into industrial edge computing applications with the GNARBOX Edge Compute Platform — targeting coverage in enterprise tech, UAV/drone, and field operations media to establish credibility in new verticals.

Over the course of four years, my strategy focused on:

  • Product Launch PR: Announced the initial introduction of the first generation of GNARBOX, followed by GNARBOX 2.0 SSD. Securing embargoed media coverage on The Verge, CNET, Outside Magazine, XXXX, XXXX, and other niche media.

  • Partnership Amplification: Spotlighted integrations with Adobe Lightroom CC, Photo Mechanic, and LumaFusion to elevate GNARBOX as the go-to mobile workflow hub.

  • Thought Leadership: Positioned GNARBOX executives as innovators in rugged data solutions through interviews and industry commentary.

  • Event Management: Coordinated press and product demonstrations at trade shows, creative industry events, and launch activations.

  • Vertical Market Expansion: Drove messaging for GNARBOX’s move into edge computing, securing coverage in tech, enterprise, and industrial publications.
